Jerry White has been writing London's history for over fifty years and is considered the modern city's leading social historian. His numerous books include London in the Eighteenth Century, London in the Nineteenth Century, London in the Twentieth Century, and The Battle of London 1939-1945. His Birth of a Global City. London in a Revolutionary World 1789-1815 is published in October 2026 by The Bodley Head. He is a Winner of the Wolfson History Prize, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and Emeritus Professor of Modern London History at the University of London.
