David is a delightfully modest young academic who has nevertheless produced a very practical and readable guide to each phase of the battle (in a series of summary descriptions) and the viewpoints and monuments to be found on the battlefield. Unfortunately it was written before the Bi-Centenary – and so is out of date with regard to the rebuilt Waterloo and Hougoumont Visitor Centres – but otherwise spot on. Excellent guide if you are ever visiting the battlefield without a battlefield guide – which is, of course, we do not recommend!!
