Art & Architectural Historian

Dr Mehreen Chida-Razvi received her PhD in Art History from SOAS, University of London (2012). Her expertise is on the art and material culture of Mughal South Asia and the wider Persianate world. Her research explores the intersection of art, architecture, and politics; female architectural patronage; the physical and cultural spaces occupied by women; and cultural and artistic interactions between Europe/Asia and the Mughal Empire. She is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Islamic Architecture, and regularly teaches courses and lectures on Islamic and Indo-Islamic art at universities and museums in London and Oxford. She previously worked for the Khalili Collection of Islamic Art as the In-House Editor for their publication series (2018-24), and was a Research Associate in the Department of Art History at SOAS (2015-19). She has published extensively on Mughal art and architecture and has shared her expertise with public audiences through her participation and consultation for documentaries on the Taj Mahal; programming on BBC World Service Radio; podcasts; participation in the Lahore, Jaipur, and Heidelberg Literary Festivals; and as an expert lecturer on cultural tours.
