Palle Ydstebo
Retired Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Lecturer at the Norwegian Military Academy
Palle Ydstebø is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Norwegian Army, Corps of Engineers. He is serving in retirement as researcher and teacher in strategy, operational art, and land warfare. He has a varied career in the Norwegian Air Force and Army in Norway, in deployments to Afghanistan and South Sudan, and staff assignments Germany and Great Britain. He became an academic soldier while serving at the Norwegian Defence Command and Staff College. He holds a Ph.D. in War Studies and has guided cadets and staff college students on tactical and operational levels tours in Norway, and abroad. His main field of interest is the development of modern warfare, with a special emphasis on military thinking and doctrine. He is also a much-used commentator by Norwegian media on the Russian-Ukraine War.
