Professor Gary Sheffield PhD is one of the UK’s leading military historians. He retired in 2021 after a long career in academia but is now as busy as ever! He is Visiting Professor in Defence Studies at King’s College London, based at the UK’s Defence Academy. He has published many books and articles, mainly on the armies of Britain and the British Empire in the era of the two world wars. In recent years he has developed a particular interest in the Irish dimension and is preparing an article on Irish soldiers in the British Army from 1914 to 1945.
