This is merely a suggested itinerary and can be tailor made to your interests and needs;
Day 1 – Blenheim Palace. After convening in London make your way out to Blenheim Palace where Churchill was born and raised by his aristocratic family. The current Duke and Duchess of Marlborough still live in the house today. The house has a newly refurbished Churchill exhibition that documents his life in detail as well as grand state and private rooms, and picturesque gardens. At St Martin's Church, Bladon, you can visit Churchill’s grave where he was laid to rest just over 50 years ago.
Day 2– London. Today enjoy a walking tour around London visiting sites with links to Churchill, including his London home, his statue outside Parliament and his memorial at Westminster Abbey indicating his importance and the love the nation shared for him. At the Cabinet War Rooms, you will be at the heart of government operations during the war. The exhibition has been brilliantly preserved and the map room is untouched since the day it was left in May 1945. Here you really get a feel for the scale and tension around what was a huge operation.
Day 3 – Chartwell. Chartwell was Churchill’s home from 1924 and is little changed from when he left it in 1965. The house holds many treasures and provides an intimate portrait of the Churchill family, showing another side to the leader's ‘British Bulldog’ exterior. You will then return to London and disperse, maybe a visit to the Imperial War Museum would top off what is bound to be a fascinating trip.
