Dr Stephen Miles
History Tours Curator
Stephen joined TCE in January 2024 as History Tours Curator having previously worked in the travel and educational sectors. With a lifelong passion for history and the places where it was made Stephen has interests spanning many periods from his first love, the ancient near east, right up to the twentieth century. Stephen studied at the universities of Durham, Sheffield and Glasgow where he completed a PhD in Battlefield Tourism in 2012. Stephen is the author of The Western Front: Landscape, Tourism and Heritage (Pen and Sword, 2016) and has written a number of military history-themed articles, including for Military History Matters. His fascination with the past is underpinned by a lifetime of travel and he has now visited over 90 countries pursuing these interests.
In his spare time, Stephen enjoys travel and walking.
